The most important person a congressman or senator will hire is a Chief of Staff (COS) – which can make or break a public servant’s success or re-election.  This position requires a different skill set from the private sector to government service. Learning on the job could be a very slow process that could negatively impact on the effectiveness of your legislator who needs to show results within the first year of office. With the clamor of many chiefs of staff and assistant chiefs of staff to have professional training, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will launch a pioneering program entitled, Certification Course for Chief Staff of Legislators to be held on Thursday to Saturday, July 11 to 13, 2019 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City, Philippines. This capacity-building program is aimed at accelerating the learning curve of the COS to enable them to function optimally at work and in the service of the legislator and one’s constituency.
