Managements' Guide on How to Really Read Financial Statements

How to make sense of financial reports is the typical challenge faced by decision-makers.  While many can read financial statements, only a few can correctly interpret and analyze the numbers to make the right decisions in board and management meetings.

To help you master financial statements, the Center for Global Best Practices will host a special program entitled "How to REALLY Read Financial Statements for Board Directors & Decision-Makers", on Thursday & Friday, July 26 & 27, 2018 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Pasay City, Philippines.

This easy-to-understand program is designed for non-finance decision-makers who make use of financial statements.  This is to help business owners, board directors and management make sense of the annual reports, income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows. You will be able to spot critical issues and ask smart questions that business owners and management need to know.

Find out what is right, what is wrong, and what is fishy in the financial reports.  You will become more effective in your decisions if you understand the numbers and the meaning behind those numbers.  Most importantly, improving your financial literacy will ensure you are being dealt with fairly and squarely by accountants and finance professionals – ensuring that you are not being taken for a ride.

In this two-day program, you will also learn to interpret the external auditors’ opinion as well as the footnotes and disclosures in annual reports.  The skills you will learn will be very useful in investment decisions for your company and even in choosing stocks in the capital markets.

This special program will feature one of the “Most Accurate Forecasters” in the world, Jonathan Ravelas. He is also the chief market strategist of the largest commercial bank in the Philippines – BDO.  His valuable insights and analysis on the financial performance of companies and the equities market are well sought after, with his commentaries appearing in Asian Wallstreet Journal, Business World and Philippine Daily Inquirer newspapers and televised interviews on ANC, Bloomberg and BBC.

This will also feature Mary Jane O. Rosales, CPA, CIA, former president of The Institute of Internal Auditors in the Philippines (2008). She has a mastery of finance, having spent most of her career handling controllership & risk management functions in Petron Corporation. She obtained a B.S.B.A. degree, major in accounting, from the University of the Philippines (1979).

If you wish to sharpen your finance essentials, then this program is for you.  Whether you are in marketing, HR, operations, or even the board director, owner or stakeholder, it’s your business to know the language of business!
