SEC Accredited: CorpGov for Board Directors and Management


Having effective board directors translate to good corporate governance and better business performance. 


To help board directors and key officers of public and publicly-listed firms align themselves with global standard on effective governance and comply with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) mandated requirement to attend a corporate governance program to be eligible for election or re-election in the board or assume key positions in management, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will host a training entitled, Corporate Governance: Board Effectiveness Best Practices to be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Pasay City, Philippines.

This one-day special corporate governance program is designed to address two important issues: 

(1) To provide capacity building for board directors by presenting to them the global best practices in board effectiveness drawn from the most updated global research of the largest accounting firm in the world – PriceWaterhouse Coopers / Isla Lipana to be presented by former PWC Chairperson, Judith V. LopezShe will also share her valuable insights and experiences being a board director of many companies across various industries; 

(2) To help all board directors of public and publicly listed companies comply with SEC-mandated requirement for them to attend a corporate governance training yearly – for their eligibility of election or re-election in the board of a corporation.

This program will also feature Jonathan Ravelas who is the Chief Market Strategist of the largest commercial bank in the Philippines – BDO. Part of his job is to analyze volumes of financial statements to provide valuable insights on the financial performance of companies and the equities markets. His investment advice is well sought after with his commentaries appearing in Asian Wall Street Journal, Business World and Philippine Daily Inquirer newspapers, as well as televised interviews on ANC, Bloomberg and BBC.

This program is designed to provide a new perspective on strategy and implementation, risk management, corporate ethics, monitoring company performance, management evaluation and succession, board dynamics and many more. This learning initiative will also cover the aspects of Financial Reporting – defining its framework, the roles of board management, CFOs and controllers in its preparation, analysis and interpretation. Required topics of SEC and a glimpse of the current ASEAN Scorecard will also be discussed.

Registration is open to the general public. Public Officials and government employees attending training programs like this are exempted from the Php 2,000 limit set by COA based on the DBM Circular 563 dated April 22, 2016.
