Local Government and Real Property Taxation

While the local government has the power to impose tax on its constituents under its jurisdiction, it is equally important that the citizens understand its rights and remedies in case of wrongful or unjust imposition of taxes.

The Center for Global Best Practices invites landowners and administrators, businesses, accountants, lawyers and even LGU officials in this one-day pioneering program entitled, "Local Government & Real Estate Taxation", scheduled on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Pasay City, Philippines.

This training is designed to address the clamour of many taxpayers and public officials who wanted to understand local government taxation and real estate taxation from the LGU level.    This is to empower its citizens to learn how to seek redress and find solutions when they feel over-burdened or saddled with multiple, excessive and unreasonable LGU fees and taxes. This program will enlighten and educate local government officials with the right knowledge on LGU taxation so they can be more effective in their governance, administration and implementation of the LGU code.

The lecture will cover two major parts, namely:  (a) Local Government Taxation, covering the rules, extent, and restrictions on the imposition of license taxes, fees, penalties by LGUs in the provinces, cities, municipalities and barangays; and (b) Real Property Taxation – a system of levy on real property imposed on a country-wide basis with discussions including special levies, property tax exemption, remedies of taxpayers, procedures in protesting real property tax assessments, and more!

This comprehensive lecture is never taught in any schools and can save taxpayers millions in taxes and consulting fees as well as provide LGU officials a clear guidance in enacting ordinances.  Attendees shall be provided actual examples of decided cases, rulings, updates, solutions and remedies to their most encountered problems.

This special program will feature Atty. Nicasio C. Cabaneiro, partner in-charge of the Tax Programs at the Center for Global Best Practices.  He is a recognized authority in the practice of taxation and commercial law with a track record and solid reputation of saving his clients across various industries billions in taxes.
